Heya heisters!

Long time no blog fellas! It’s been an eventful period, so as promised, here’s a blog to make all things clear. We’ll look at what’s been going on, and what’s coming in the Jacket update!

For starters, we’ve been thrilled to see you guys play around with Don’t Be A Hero, it’s been great to see your reactions to both Jacket and our masterpiece homage to Hotline Miami.

In this blog we’ll go through the contents of the Jacket Pack, explain the OVERSKILL/OVERKILL, answer the big community questions the best we can.

Let’s start with what you all want to know about the most, Jacket stuff! We’ve seen a few questions brought up a lot, so let’s answer those.

Jacket Pack & OVERSKILL Q&A

What does the Jacket Character Pack cost?

The price will be similar to a singular PAYDAY 3 heist, with some variance depending on regional pricing.

Is the bat only part of the Character Pack?

Yes, it’s part of Jacket’s kit. It’ll be usable by any character if you own the pack. But it’s included in the pack.

Is the bat part of a melee system update?

No. It’s an OVERSKILL (with an S in the middle), we’ll get into the difference between that and an OVERKILL weapon in a bit. The ability that summons the bat is called “The Sociopath.”

Is the only OVERSKILL paid then?

There’s a second OVERSKILL included in the update, coming as a free update, though it’s not a melee weapon. Instead it’s a tool specifically for stealth! It’s called “The Interceptor” and will let you manipulate cameras, security systems and a bunch of cool stuff.

You’ve said it twice, what the heck is an OVERSKILL?!

It’s a system added to the OVERKILL weapons. Every OVERKILL weapon has an OVERSKILL line, unique skills that are separate from the regular skill lines.

We also use it to refer to the new alternative to OVERKILL weapons, the ability type OVERSKILLS. The Interceptor and the Sociopath are both abilities rather than summonable weapons – neither need to be delivered in by an outside source, and neither can be dropped or picked up by other players. The Sociopath for instance, can be used until it expires. The Interceptor connects to the phone of its user, and isn’t ever visible as a device, it has one use per heist and can be used even if the OVERKILL bar isn’t completely filled, albeit for a lesser duration.

TL;DR – The red bar, and the summonable weapons are called OVERKILL. The skill lines, and ability type activatables are called OVERSKILL.

Ok, so how does the Sociopath bat actually work?

Pressing the OVERKILL button activates your rage mode, turning your vision red and pulling a bat from your pocket. In this state, you can unleash powerful attacks, choosing between light and heavy swings depending on the enemy you face.

Defeating enemies refills your rage bar, while taking damage reduces it. With careful timing and a bit of luck, you can keep the streak going and dominate your foes. The ability ends when your rage bar empties—you discard the bat, and the fury fades.

Those are the big questions we could find. If there are any others, just wait a few days, the release is almost upon us!

Jacket Character Pack

Now that your thirst for answers has (hopefully) been sated. Let’s take a step back, and look at what’s included in the Jacket Character pack, and summarize the things mentioned above, just so we’re on the same page.

  • The Jacket playable character. It’s Jacket, tape recorder full of brand new tapes.
  • ‘Richard Rising’ aka. Jackets signature chicken mask,
  • ‘Letterman’ weapon charm, it’s a mini jacket-jacket. For if you get a pet chicken?
  • ‘Miami Decadence’ it’s a preset weapon made of the Tribune 32 in Jackets favorite colors.
  • ‘Sociopath’ OVERSKILL it’s the above mentioned bat skill. You fly into a rage and manifest a bat out of pure anger to beat down your foes.
  • ‘Richard 1989’ chicken sticker
  • Costs about the same as a PD3 heist.
  • The Sociopath OVERSKILL is available to anyone who owns the Jacket Character Pack.

That covers it for Jacket! For more details about what’s in the patch, the patch notes are coming on the day of the patch.
