An update on PAYDAY 2 from Almir.

+ + + + +

Hello everyone,

I follow the talks here in the game hub and on the forums. I keep myself updated as good as I can in these hectic times via the many messages I receive, both in e-mail and Steam.

While we are waiting (and working on!) for the game to be released, I figured you might like a quick update how things are going.

As you know, we are making PAYDAY 2 for XBOX360, PS3 and PC. Right now, we are focusing our strengths on making sure the console versions work as they should. I bet you can imagine that it’s a challenge making a game like PAYDAY 2 with all its levels, dynamic scenarios and randomized content work on three completely different platforms. This is partly our fault – we’re extremely ambitious! :)

For example, we could make a sequel where we maybe doubled the mask variations and “get away with it”. But – the OVERKILL crew and I feel that the community deserves the most advanced mask generator we could make in the time that was given to us. The mask system, along with the new loot system and weapon modification system (among other things!) take time to test, reiterate, test again and finalize. Thanks for all the kind words regarding these new features – we hope you’ll enjoy them as much as we do.

We have gathered the feedback from the focus testers and general community discussions and have made some major improvements on the game, based on your feedback regarding the skill trees, payout in jobs and how mask and weapon modifications work.

Regarding the beta: the reason I haven’t said much recently regarding the beta is because I still can’t give you a an exact date. As I have said previously, I will give you a final date, but right now, I am fully committed making sure that PAYDAY 2 will be the game that we all wish it to be.

If you have unanswered questions, feel free to drop me a line at [email protected]. Right now, I’m terribly busy making sure that several thousand lines of text is correct in five different languages, so I might not answer straight away. I apologize if you have to wait.

Finally, thank you all for being patient and continue talking about PAYDAY 2!

Keep those helmets flying,

Almir
